Play by Play review

Play By Play By: Kate Donovan 3.5 Stars *I received an ARC copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.* Jake Dublin was a football star in college, but an injury during a game ended any possibility of him going pro. Now, he writes a sports blog that also covers anything else he has an opinion on, including his personal life. Jake's personal life becomes the main focus of his blog when he meets Sophie in the elevator of their building. His readers know her as "Elevator girl", but Sophie has no idea what Jake does for a living or that he played football. After a bad relationship Sophie has moved to start a new life. She didn't expect to meet and be drawn to Jake the day she moves into her new building. Sophie grew up in a house where football games was always on and "jocks" were always around. She did not want to be involved with a jock. When Sophie and Jake start spending more time together, he blogs about their interactions; his readers tell to come clean, but Jake can't bring himself to in fear of losing her. Along the way Jake falls in love with Sophie, but can't move forward until he tells her what he does and what he has wrote about her. However, even Jack never could have seen who would tell Sophie who he is and what he does for a living. Will Sophie understand or will she break up with him because he's a jock and what he wrote about in his blog? This is the first book I have read from Kate Donovan and I enjoyed the story line. I felt it was a little rushed and at times Jake sounded more like a girl than how a guy would talk and act. The story moved very fast and didn't develop the relationship between the two characters. I felt a connection with Jake since the majority of the story was in his point of view, but there wasn't much interaction between Jake and Sophia. I wish the story was a little longer and the characters relationship and Sophie were developed a little more, but overall the story line was good. The story was sweet.
