Blurb:

What happens when something so terrible tears you apart from the inside out?

You become a fragment of yourself.

On the right path to achieving her hopes and dreams, Campbell Stevens has always been a model student. The first time she lets loose during her senior year of high school, she loses everything.

Living in a nightmare after surviving the most traumatic event, Campbell learns to be content by walking through life single and unattached, free of the uncertainty that relationships bring. She isn’t looking for love. In fact, she goes out of her way to avoid it—that is, until she runs into Deacon Montgomery, a kind and handsome Chicago firefighter. She denies her instant attraction to him, only making him more persistent in his pursuit of her. Despite her desire to be with Deacon, Campbell is too damaged to share herself with anyone else.

Life left Campbell shattered. Can Deacon help put the fragments back together? Or will she forever be broken?

Romance Spice & Wine’s Review!

4.5 Stars!!!

Campbell Stevens had her life planned out and everything was going exactly like she envisioned. That is until one night changed everything for Campbell and tore her apart, Campbell’s hope and dreams change after that night and she decides to protect herself from ever getting hurt again. Campbell avoids relationships and doesn’t let herself get attached to anyone. That is until she meets Deacon.

Deacon is a firefighter that seems to have his life together. He is determined and the more that Campbell pushes him away the more he wants to fight and get to know her more. They both have an immediately attraction to one another, but Campbell is fighting the attraction with everything she has in her. Deacon isn’t discouraged or put off by how Campbell reacts to him; if anything he is more determined to go out with her. Will Deacon be able to break through Campbell’s walls that she has placed around herself and her heart or will he give up? Will Campbell be able to let herself be loved or continue her life alone and single.

Ellie Wade did an amazing job writing this story. It will draw you into the characters’ lives and make you feel like you are right there with them. There are parts of this story that broke my heart and made me feel like I was going through the emotions right along with Campbell and Deacon, but then I would be smiling, laughing and swooning. I absolutely love books that can draw out different emotions in me and make me connect with the characters, not only the main characters, but secondary characters as well. Ellie Wade did an amazing job with the character development and didn’t rush the relationship between Campbell and Deacon, This is definitely a book that you will want to read!!!
