Seasons of Sorrow by C.C. Wood

Seasons of Sorrow
By C.C. Wood
Release Day: January 16, 2014

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

A native Texan, C.C. grew up either reading or playing the piano. Years later, she’s still not grown up and doing the same things. Since the voices in her head never shut up, C.C. decided to try and profit from their crazy stories and started writing books.

Now that she has a baby girl at home, C.C.’s non-writing time is usually spent cleaning up poopy diapers or feeding the poop machine. Sometimes she teaches piano, cooks, or spends time bugging her hubby and two beagles.

SYNOPSIS:

Just a few short months after her son’s birth, Charlotte Fallon faces a parent’s worst nightmare. In her darkest hour, she finds herself abandoned by her husband, Derek, left to deal with her heartbreak alone. Jobless and with very little money, she fights to regain her footing.

As the months pass, secrets her husband managed to bury are unearthed and she wonders if she ever truly knew him. As the truth continues to come to light, Derek’s business partner and Charlotte’s friend, Gregory Swift, steps in to help her deal with the repercussions of her husband’s betrayal.

Seasons come and go, and, as Charlotte begins to return to life, she realizes that she is much stronger than she believed. And while a pain this deep can never be forgotten, Charlotte learns there is room for joy in the future as the wounds heal. Even a winter of sorrow can eventually warm into a summer of sweetness.

MY REVIEW:

4 STARS!!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

This is the first book that I have read of C.C. Wood’s and I was blown away. I was a little worried about reading this book because of the synopsis, but I was pleasantly surprised. As a mother, it is very hard to read about a parent losing their child, but C.C. Wood did a wonderful job in the way she dealt with it. This story is more about a woman, mother, and wife healing from the death of her child and betrayal of her husband and finding strength within herself to live again.

Charlotte is so lucky to have her best friends, Greg and Brandy, who support her and love her unconditionally. Charlotte’s husband is not the one who helps her get through something no parent should go through; Greg is the one there and you immediately love him. Without her friends, there is no telling what would have happened to Charlotte.

Seasons of Sorrow is a heartbreaking story, but at the same time C.C. Wood made you laugh and have hope. This was a very emotional story for me, but I still really enjoyed reading it. This story is very touching, but has passion as well. C.C. Wood did a wonderful job writing this story and you should definitely take a chance reading this book and not over looking it because of the subject matter. The love story is realistic and the friendship is phenomenal. I liked that no matter how much time had passed the Charlotte didn’t just get over her loss and move on, but learned how to live with the pain.
